That quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. was displayed in the Compassion Change Exhibit today.
For those of you have never heard of Compassion International, they are an organization working to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Through child sponsorship & partnering with local churches in many countries worldwide, they provide relief from starvation, crime, prostitution & most importantly share the Gospel with communities in over 25 countries.
I had a Compassion child from age 17. Ramadhani Salumu Sanja is a young boy living in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately Ramadhani left the program last year & could not be convinced to come back. I still think of him often & his picture lives in my wallet. I pray that He continues in grow in Christ.
For Yura & most others in the world, $38 per month is an extraordinary amount of money, & understandably so . When we were living abroad last year, Ramadhani dropped out of the program & we decided not to sponsor another child because our finances were incredibly tight. I began to pray that God would stretch our faith & wallets & change Yura’s heart to sponsor a child one day. I want our children to grow up in a home that is aware of the world & God’s desire for the nations.
Today after we went through the Change Exhibit, Yura started to gravitate towards the packets of kids from India. My only specific desire was to choose a child who had been labeled Priority – waiting for more than 6 months for a sponsor. Yura really wanted a girl from India.
So we introduce to you Divya:
She turns 6 years old in November & lives in Central India with her father, mother & sibling [isn’t she just so beautiful!?]
Our prayer for her today is that she would grow in the strength & love of our Lord Jesus Christ; that she would be loved & protected from evil.
Will you consider serving a child today? Will you consider visiting a Compassion Change Exhibit soon? Pray & see what the Lord leads you to do.
